Police were called to the 1900 block of N. Croskey Street around 12:55 a.m., where the woman had suffered gunshot wounds to her chest before being taken to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle, police said.
At the scene, officers found a firearm on the second floor of the home, which had no magazine and was found near blood. The woman claimed the injuries were self-inflicted and told detectives that the gun had accidentally discharged as the woman was trying to reinsert the fallen a magazine, while removing the gun from her waist, police said.
